![]() However, the Google Earth plug-in must be installed to use 3D Google Maps." The 3D Google Maps display supports a variety of three-dimensional views with scrolling capability. When the Earth button in the GeoTag screen is clicked, the map switches to the 3D Google Maps display. "3D Google Maps can now be used with the GeoTag function. One more thing: you must have selected at least one picture from the thumbnails to the right of the map. I may not have clicked a thumbnail when I first tried to use this facility ~ I thought that once they were 'loaded' into the geo tag window that was all that was necessary. In retrospect, this may be a coincidence. Once that was installed the globe icon allowed me to use the cross hair to pinpoint the location on the map. I only got it to work after installing the Google Earth plugin. I am using XP so things may be different but I had the problem that the globe icon was 'greyed out'. I don't know if you know what the toolbar pin icon is like but in case you don't it is a globe symbol. However, I don't see any toolbar with a "pin" for me to place it on the map. I select a picture and click the GeoTag button. I'm trying to use the GeoTag function in ViewNX, but am having some problems. Perhaps I'll think differently after using it longer. I can see, perhaps, why you like it but, compared with what other products do free or (as in IDimager) cheaper, I still feel $150 is a lot to ask. I've bought and installed Photo Mechanic. Saronann > At the same time PM syncs the cood ![]() I've not tried it, so can't vouch for it, but the Web site says it works with most raw files. I found this one while looking for something else. What would happen in Win 7 is anybody's guess.Īn alternative might be to use a separate utility. I'm not sure I'd describe it as "popping up". Prspect06 > When using the GeoTag pin feature, will estimated coordinates pop up in the metadata? When using the GeoTag pin feature, will estimated coordinates pop up in the metadata? I guess I'll just have to wait until the next update. If you're not on windows 7 make sure you have a thumbnail selected on the right hand side.įuzz - Thanks for the insight. How do I get this pin?Īre you using Windows 7? As far as I can see geotagging is messed up on Windows 7 in both x86 and 圆4 flavours. Prspect06 wrote I'm trying to use the GeoTag function in ViewNX, but am having some problems. The sync makes it nice if I want to move the position over the top of a building or structure. I can enter the coordinates directly and apply to one or more images. That is one of the many reasons why I use PM. It's fine for geotagging once in a while, especially when you're not in posession of a gps-thingy on your camera (as I am not). ![]() You can apply the geotag to several photos at once.which helps. Instead, you choose your image(s), locate their position on the map, via the GeoTag icon, move the blue pin to there and tell VNX to copy the information over. It is indeed possible with VNX but not by editing or entering the data directly, AFAICS. You have to "activate" it (for lack of a better word).Ĭareful stretch edited this topic ages ago. The information is there, but isn't automatically updated to the flickr map. The only "issue" I have with it, is that it is not immediatly transferrable to flickr. It seems to work well.but is only as accurate as how precise you click on the map. I have used it for some of my latest photos (like my Road Trip and Brussels sets). The information is transferred to your photo. Yes, ViewNX (the latest version) has a geotagging function of sorts. I don't have Nikon View NX installed, but I seem to remember that this was also possible using Nikon's free View NX. Photomechanic from has a function "set GPS coordinates" that allows me to enter the actual coordinates and include them in the NEF. Is there anyway to manually enter GPS coordinates into the metadata of a NEF file?
